Everything you need to know as a member of our dance family

Section 1: Welcome to Live Dance Create LLC

🎉 Welcome, Dance Families!

Thank you for choosing Live Dance Create LLC (LDC). Whether your dancer is taking their very first steps or preparing for the stage, we're honored to be part of their journey. Our studio is more than a place to learn choreography — it's where young dancers grow in confidence, build friendships, and discover a love for movement.

🚀 Our Mission

To nurture creativity, technique, and character in every dancer — in a supportive, family-centered environment where every student is known by name and challenged to grow.

🌏 Studio Philosophy

  • Community first. We believe dance is better together. Our studio thrives when families, students, and instructors are all pulling in the same direction.
  • Growth over perfection. We celebrate effort, progress, and resilience. Every dancer develops at their own pace.
  • Excellence with warmth. We hold students to high standards — in technique, in behavior, and in heart — and we do it with encouragement, not pressure.
  • Inclusivity. Live Dance Create LLC welcomes every student regardless of background, ability, or experience level.

📏 Class Placement

Students are placed in classes based on age, experience level, and instructor recommendation. If you believe your dancer would benefit from a different level or style, please speak with their instructor or contact us — we're happy to help find the best fit.

Section 3: Dress Code & What to Wear

A consistent dress code helps students focus, move safely, and take class seriously. Please review the requirements below and ensure your dancer arrives prepared.

⚠ Technique Class Requirements (Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical)

All technique classes require the following:

  • Leotard (any solid color) — the foundational piece of dance attire. No loose tops or T-shirts.
  • Tights — footed or convertible, in pink, tan, or black to match leotard.
  • Ballet shoes (for ballet classes) — canvas or leather, split-sole recommended.
  • Jazz shoes — lace-up or slip-on leather/synthetic.
  • Hair neatly pulled back — bun preferred for ballet, ponytail accepted for other styles. Hair must be off the face and out of the eyes.
  • No jewelry (small studs acceptable). No dangling earrings or rings.
  • Cover-ups over dancewear during warm-up — students may arrive in warm-ups but must change into proper dance attire for class.
👗 Ballet Pink or black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a bun. Clear tights acceptable for older students.
Jazz / Lyrical Solid-color leotard, tan or black tights, jazz shoes. Hair pulled back neatly.
⚠ Hip Hop Comfortable athletic wear — T-shirt, basketball shorts, or joggers. Clean, non-marking sneakers (dance hip-hop shoes preferred). No outdoor street shoes on the dance floor.
Pom / Competition Studio-bought or approved pom uniform. Slight variation by team — instructor will provide specifics.
Tumbling & Acro Fitted athletic top, shorts or leggings. Bare feet. Hair secured. No loose clothing or zippers.
🎉 Recital Costumes Costumes are assigned by the instructor based on the dance. Costume details distributed at least 6–8 weeks before the show. Sizes verified via measurements taken in class.

💴 Where to Buy Dancewear

Dancewear can be purchased at most major dance retailers. We do not require specific brands — functional dancewear is the standard. If cost is a concern, contact us — we have resources available for families who need support.

Section 4: Attendance Policy

🚶 Why Attendance Matters

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in a dancer's progress. Classes build on each other — choreography, technique, and routines are introduced and refined week by week. A dancer who misses class regularly will fall behind, miss sections of choreography, and miss corrections that help them improve.

🔔 Our Expectations

  • Be on time. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class starts. Lateness disrupts warm-up and can be embarrassing for the student. If you are running late, call or text the studio.
  • Notify us in advance of planned absences. If you know your dancer will miss a class (vacation, school event), please let us know so the instructor can plan accordingly.
  • If your dancer is ill, keep them home. A mild cold isn't always a reason to miss, but a fever, vomiting, or contagion is. We ask that sick students stay home so others stay healthy.
  • Communicate directly. If your dancer will miss multiple consecutive weeks, please touch base with the instructor or studio so we can support their return.
  • Excused vs. unexcused. Planned absences (school events, travel) are noted as excused. Unexplained, repeated absences may affect class placement and recital readiness.

💪 Tardiness Protocol

Three or more late arrivals (more than 5 minutes) without notice will be flagged. Repeated tardiness may result in a conversation with the studio owner about continued enrollment. We understand that life happens — but consistent lateness sends a message to students about the importance we place on their commitments.

Section 5: Tuition & Payment Policies

💰 Registration Fee — $65 (Non-Refundable)

A $65 registration fee is required each season (charged once per student per season). This fee covers administrative costs, costume fittings, and studio resources. This fee is non-refundable. It is due at the time of enrollment and must be paid before your dancer's first class.

💵 Tuition & Billing

  • Tuition is billed monthly, due on the 1st of each month. autopay is available and recommended — speak with the studio to set this up.
  • No refunds are issued for unused class time, including due to illness, vacation, or dismissal.
  • Returned payments / failed autopay: A $15 fee will be assessed for failed payments. You will be contacted to update payment info. Classes may be temporarily suspended until payment is resolved.
  • Delinquent accounts: Accounts more than 30 days past due may result in class suspension. A referral to collections may be made for accounts more than 60 days past due.
  • Withdrawal: To withdraw from a class, you must notify the studio in writing (email to either contact listed in this handbook). Tuition after the notice period is non-refundable.

💌 What Tuition Covers

Monthly tuition covers your dancer's weekly instruction time, studio facility use, and curriculum development. It does not cover:

  • Recital costumes (billed separately in spring)
  • Recital tickets (purchased separately)
  • Recital makeup, tights, or shoes
  • Competition fees (for competitive team members)
  • Private lessons

💶 Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Credit / Debit Card — via autopay or in-person
  • Venmo — details provided at enrollment
  • Cash or Check — in-person only, made out to Live Dance Create, LLC

Note: There is a 3% processing fee for credit card transactions. We recommend autopay with a bank account for the lowest cost.

Section 6: Class Placement & Progression

📐 How Placement Works

Students are placed in the appropriate class level based on:

  • Age — as a baseline starting point
  • Prior experience — including training at other studios
  • Instructor evaluation — including work ethic, skill level, and behavioral readiness
  • Class availability — we do our best to accommodate your preferred time slot

Placement decisions are made with the student's best interest in mind. We want every dancer challenged — not overwhelmed or bored. Being placed in the "right" level (not the highest) leads to faster, more joyful growth.

🚀 Moving Up — Promotion & Advancement

Progression in dance is not automatic by time served — it is earned through mastery of skills. Students are evaluated by their instructor throughout the year for advancement readiness. Factors include:

  • Technical proficiency in current level requirements
  • Consistent attendance and engagement
  • Performance quality in class and at events
  • Instructor recommendation

Parents will be notified if their dancer is being considered for advancement. Promotions are not guaranteed each year. Some students benefit from more than one year at a given level — this is a strength, not a setback.

🏆 Competition & Performance Team

Dancers who demonstrate excellence, commitment, and teamwork may be invited to join the studio's competitive team or participate in additional performance opportunities. Team placement is by invitation only, based on instructor recommendation and an evaluation process. Competitive team members have additional obligations (extra rehearsal times, competition fees, mandatory attendance at events) communicated at the time of invitation.

Section 7: Studio Etiquette & Expectations

🚰 For Students

  • Respect the studio and each other. No bullying, teasing, or exclusion. We are one dance family.
  • No food or drink in the dance studio except water in a sealed container.
  • Phones must be silenced during class. Emergency calls should be taken outside.
  • Do not useprofanity or crude language in the studio at any time.
  • Listen to your instructor. Corrections are gifts — accept them with a "yes" and try again.
  • Do not leave class early without permission from your instructor.
  • Take care of your body. Warm up properly, stay hydrated, and tell your instructor if you're injured.
  • Support your classmates. Celebrate others' growth. Jealousy has no place in dance.

👫 For Parents & Guardians

  • Drop-off and pick-up on time. Dancers should not be left at the studio unsupervised before or after class. If you are more than 10 minutes late picking up, we will attempt to contact you.
  • Stay out of the classroom during instruction time. Parents are welcome to wait in the lobby. Observation days are scheduled in advance — please respect these boundaries so students can focus.
  • Do not coach your dancer from the lobby. If you have feedback about class, speak with the instructor before or after class — not during.
  • Address concerns professionally. If something is bothering you, speak directly and respectfully with the instructor or studio owner. Public venting on social media or to other parents does not help — it damages the community.
  • Reinforce good habits at home. Practice makes progress. Even 5–10 minutes of review at home between classes makes a difference.
  • Stay informed. Check your email and our communication channels regularly for updates, schedule changes, and announcements.
  • Read this handbook in full. You are responsible for knowing our policies.

⚠ Disruptive Behavior

Students who are consistently disruptive, disrespectful to instructors, or behave in ways that interfere with others' learning will receive a warning from their instructor. Continued disruption may result in:

  • Parent conference required before the student can return to class
  • Temporary suspension from class
  • In cases of severe misconduct (harassment, violence, theft), immediate dismissal without refund

We take the safety and wellbeing of every student seriously. Our studio is a place where every dancer should feel safe, respected, and supported.

Section 9: Recital Information

🎅 "Country Lights and Denim Nights"

Our spring recital is one of the most exciting events of the year! This is where dancers showcase everything they've learned — months of practice, hard work, and growth come together on stage. Every enrolled student is expected to participate in the recital.

Detail Information
Show Name "Country Lights and Denim Nights" — Spring 2026 Recital
Dates May 15–16, 2026
Venue Betty Fairfax High School — 8225 S 59th Ave, Laveen Village, AZ 85339
Ticket Sales Tickets are sold separately from tuition. Information released in spring.
Mandatory Rehearsal All dancers must attend the scheduled rehearsal before show day.
Recital Fee A per-dancer recital fee (covering venue, programs, and production costs) is charged in spring. Details provided at costume distribution.

🚵 Costume Information

  • Costumes are assigned by the instructor based on the dance and your dancer's measurements taken in class.
  • Costumes are ordered in early spring — you will be billed separately for the costume. Payment is required to secure the order.
  • Costume sizes are based on measurements, not clothing sizes. Please do not request size changes after orders are placed — changes are often not possible.
  • Costume alterations (hemming, pinning for fit) are the responsibility of the parent.
  • No costume exchanges after the order deadline unless there is a verified error.
  • If you have financial concerns about a costume, please contact Kiva directly — we do not want cost to be a barrier to participation.

📷 Recital Day Expectations

  • Be on time. Backstage call times are strict. If your dancer is late, they may miss their dance.
  • Stay backstage during the show. Dancers should not leave backstage once they've been called. We have a backstage flow — follow it.
  • Recital makeup is required — instructions provided in advance. Please do not apply makeup before arrival unless directed.
  • No flash photography or videography during performances (this is a venue rule — it interferes with the official recording).
  • Order the official video — the studio commissions a professional recording of every dance. Parents may purchase a copy. Information provided closer to the show.

🎯 Recital Rehearsal (Mandatory)

One or more rehearsal days are scheduled before the recital to walk dancers through the venue, practice stage entries and exits, and run the show order. Attendance at the scheduled rehearsal is required for all dancers. Missing the rehearsal may mean your dancer cannot perform in the show.

Section 10: Make-Up Class Policy

📚 How Make-Ups Work

We understand that dancers miss class sometimes — illness, school events, family travel. We offer make-up opportunities so students don't fall behind on choreography or technique.

  • Make-up classes are offered once per session (fall or spring), subject to availability.
  • To schedule a make-up, contact the studio to arrange which class you'll attend as a guest.
  • Make-ups must be arranged within 30 days of the absence.
  • Make-up classes are subject to space availability — you may not always be able to schedule one for your exact class.
  • No make-up for no-shows where no advance notice was given, unless it was due to sudden illness or emergency.

⚠ What Does NOT Qualify for a Make-Up

  • Absences that were not communicated (no-shows without notice)
  • Vacations or trips planned with more than 1 week's notice (we treat these as planned absences, not make-up eligible)
  • Absences more than 30 days old
  • Recurring or chronic absences — if your dancer consistently misses class, talk to the studio about alternatives before expecting make-up accommodations

📊 Session Credit Policy

If your dancer misses a class and a make-up is not available, there is no credit issued for that class. Tuition is charged monthly regardless of individual attendance. Make-up opportunities are a courtesy, not a guarantee. If you have a recurring scheduling conflict, please speak with the studio — we may be able to help find a better class time.

Section 11: Inclement Weather & Studio Closures

⚠ Studio Closure Notification

If the studio must close due to weather (severe storms, flooding, road conditions) or other emergency, we will notify families via email and/or text message as early as possible — typically by 3:00 PM for evening classes.

💧 How Decisions Are Made

Closures are determined based on the safety of driving conditions in the Laveen area. If the school district where the studio is located closes due to weather, the studio will likely close as well. We do not close based on heat alone — only when road conditions are dangerous.

📌 When We're Open

If the studio is open, classes are expected to run. If you feel unsafe driving, you may choose to keep your dancer home — just notify us and we will address the absence. If the studio is open and you choose not to attend, there is no make-up or credit.

📢 Closures for Other Reasons

Beyond weather, the studio may close for other reasons (maintenance, illness, owner events). In all cases, we will notify families as early as possible via email. If a class must be cancelled due to instructor illness, we will attempt to find a substitute. If a substitute is not available, we will notify families and a make-up will be offered.
